I’ve been a fan of the SquareEnix Front Mission series since, well, since the company was just Squaresoft. It’s a tactical RP with giant robots. Very popular in Japan with limited success in America. Still, I always get the newest games when they come out cause I want them to succeed here – and why shouldn’t they? We love Gundam, and Evangelion, and South Park even has a giant robot!! America loves giant robots, so let’s love Front Mission!!
With E3 about to hit next week (ryboflavin!) there was a new trailer out today for the upcoming convention giving us a hint of the awesome about to strike. Front Mission Evolved looks like it has a lot of potential, but don’t let me be the judge of that — take a look for yourselves! (Then agree, okay?)
Tonight is the season finale of one of my favorite shows. Maybe ever. Of course I speak of GLEE. (Which ironically enough is rarely happy. Odd that.) So, naturally, I thought it’s only fitting to have a member of the cast as the focus of this weeks Twitter Tuesday.
Now, if you don’t know almost the entire cast is on Twitter, including some of the regular guest stars. That gave me a LOT of choices for who to highlight. So, do I pick the best voice? Maybe the person who uses Jericho as the stage name for their music career (bonus points for the awesome!) How about the actress playing the character with the most interesting story this season?
Nah.
This is Twitter, and so the easy choice was ‘who is doing cool stuff and talking the most about it?’ That made it easy. Right now, everything points to Cory Monteith – aka Finn. Dude is Europe right now, recording a new movie with Katie Cassidy (Nightmare on Elm Street) and Selena Gomez (everything on Disney). Not only is he Tweeting a few times a day, he’s loading us with sweet behind the scenes pics. It’s like having a backstage passport!
So, while you’re watching GLEE tonight (don’t lie, you watch it – we all do) take a moment to add Cory Monteith (frankenteen) to your Follow List.
A lot of you know that I recently moved to the AWESOME city of Saint Louis last year. Well it turns out there’s a blog dedicated to the artists of this kickin’ city at STLWebcomics.org and they were nice enough to ask me a few questions and then toss a link over to BlueStar for the people. Now in the business we call that an interview – and so now I have to throw my thanks back to the crew over at STLW for their time and support. The interview looks great! If you get a chance check it out, and while you’re there try a couple of those other links and show some love!
Hey, Blue Crew, we’re gonna start a new weekly feature here for those of you who are fans of Twitter. Each week on Tuesday I’ll point you to a new person on Twitter that I recommend following and a little info on why. Could be another comic artist, might be a musician, maybe an informational feed.
This week it’s the voice for Sony Playstation. Or at least in their ads. The Kevin Butler.
From his own feed’s profile: ”As VP at PlayStation, I’m a man of the people. And the people need help. Stubborn spouse? Divided family? PS3 deprived? Rest easy. Kevin’s here.” Kevin’s done great work in counseling those who fight over the controller, or don’t understand how awesome God of War 3 really is, or maybe they just need a little motivation to live up to their true potential as seen in his most recent work:
Every single day we all need a little inspiration, a little understanding, and a strong reminder that gaming isn’t just fantastic it’s everything. Now, thanks to Kevin’s Twitter feed, we can all remember. Remember it hard.
So, I’m sure a lot of you noticed that the comic was going fine for a couple of days then I pulled everything down and stuttered to a stop. Yeah, that was my bad. I forgot to pull up the anchor. We took off then slammed to a stop when the chain reached it’s max length. Basically, I’m having some serious problems with my ftp right now and I’ll have it fixed by Tuesday if not later tonight. I apologize for the mess, but we’ll get this going and once we do it’ll be smooth sailing from there on!
Alright, I’m gonna go ahead and say right now that the first NEW comic will be posted up on Monday the 24th. Just a quick reminder we’ll be going Monday through Thursday to start off so there will be 4 new comics each week.
If you know anyone else who’d love to catch up or get back on board let them know now! There’s no better time to start reading then right now when everything is about to get into full gear again. Thanks for all your support and kind words, and I’ll see you guys first thing Monday morning with the new comics!!
What up, Blue Crew?!
It’s been a while… okay, a really long while… but as you can probably tell things are almost back to normal. I don’t like to be that person who makes excuses but I figure after about a year of being on hiatus you guys deserve to know.
Basically: the original short hiatus turned into a longer hiatus cause everything around me in the real world went crazy. Not crazy bad, but just crazy hectic. I ended up moving to St. Louis (finally) and of course had to change my job. Economy sorta made that hard and I went through a couple of jobs but I have a really good/solid job now and thats (of course) great! My old computer that gave me trouble constantly finally died, but I was able to get a new computer which is a large upgrade for an amazing sale price. To my surprise, the website got hacked, but it was my wordpress not my actual site. So, I lost all the old blogs and pages but no real damage was done – and even better that gives me a reason to redo the site and tweak it up a bit. Which it needed.
If you can’t tell, I’m pretty optomistic about things right now! I’ve got comics ready to go, and the sites just about ready too, and Brian Sparks and I are gonna record a new So Like Duh tomorrow. Of course I’ll also be making Chug-A-Freezes and I have a surprise or two planned along the way! But, the comics come first!!
To that end: allow me a moment to talk about the comics. I’m going to start off on the old Monday through Thursday schedule with 4 new comics a week. I did consider a full 5 day schedule like I used to do with WTH but I decided that I’d be better off keeping simple at the start to get back into the swing of things. Later in the year -IF- I get enough of a buffer I feel comfortable then I can always go up. I don’t wanna start high and then pull back. You guys deserve better.
So, when does it all start? That is a great question! I would love to say I have the exact answer but I really don’t. I was planning for Monday the 10th but it may have to hold up to another week. I want to make sure the site is 100% functional and at least 30% visually correct. I’ve gotten a lot of help from Phil who’s a master at ComicPress to get the site back together. Somehow in the year of not doing CSS I’ve all but forgotten how to write CSS. Weird that. Trust me though, between Twitter and RSS and everything else I’ll let you all know the minute I get new comics out. Whether it’s Monday, Wed, or even next Monday after that. (It shouldn’t be any later then that though.)
So, to sum up: thanks for sticking around and thank you for being patient. Everything will get rolling again soon though and I hope you’re even half as excited as I am. Cause I’m really exicted. MEGA really excited.
