Listen up, BlueCrew! Time to give you guys some authority and ownership around here. Why? Cause you guys are the ones that make this site and comic happen and matter – so it’s time I gave you some power to go with all that responsibility. Power and rewards! Mmm… rewards…
So, here’s what I came up with: Doubloons. What are doubloons? Why they’re a form of currency that you – the BlueCrew – will earn here on the site by doing the simplest stuff. What kind of stuff? SIMPLE stuff. For starters, take a moment or so to comment on a post or a comic you find entertaining – anything I post today, tomorrow, or even the older stuff counts! Once a comic or blog post has 5 unique comments you guys get a doubloon! See, all it takes is five of you guys to say “seriously? Hop? You watched that? Weirdo.” The same goes for any poll that has at least 20 votes (cause votes take a little less time.) Oh, and yes, that means a poll with 20 votes and 5 comments gets you double credit!
Here are some more things that will earn a point: send me an email, or send me a question on ForumSpring (the box is just to the left), or (re)tweet a link about BlueStar to your friends. Yeah, every day when I post a tweet about the new comic, all you have to do is hit retweet. (Twitter retweets will be limited to five points a day though, so don’t go overboard.) There are also some other things worth even more doubloons. Like to draw and write? Fan Art and Fan Fics score everyone 5 coins each. Plus, for every 100 new Twitter followers I’ll add on another 5 doubloons. And these are just SOME ideas, cause I know wicked awesome you guys are and I’m sure you’ll come up with even more cool stuff that I’d never think of. Those things will earn doubloons too, and we’ll tally them on whenever they show up.
Now, earning doubloons is only half the deal. Cause, in case you missed it earlier: REWARDS!! So, what are rewards? Well, they’re cool things that I can do for you guys to say “thank you” for sharing your awesome with me. Rewards can be free wallpapers or behind-the-scenes art that I don’t normally show. There’s lot of things I might do, and I’ll try to keep those things cool and varied. Plus, I’m open to suggestions on new reward ideas.
All of this begins today! There’s a new tally just under the calendar on the left – and cause you guys are the best I went ahead and started you off with 5 points. Starting right now you add to that total. The first reward will be at 50 doubloons – and that reward will be a set of free avatars for you guys to use as you like. Use them on your twitter account, for your comment image, on your favorite forums. Wherever you like – cause they’re YOUR reward!
So, get to it guys, because from here on out it’s in your hands. Let’s make BlueStar a great place for everyone to enjoy and take pride in, but most of all - HAVE FUN!!

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this for a comic before. It’ll be interesting to see how it works out. Also, I’m glad you’ve been able to update a big more regularly lately. I’m interested to see what trouble the crew will get into now!
Well, I can tell you this without to much of a spoiler: the end of this chapter is more action then we’ve had yet. It should be a lot of fun, and I’m interested in the change of pace. When I first started writing BlueStar, one thing I was really excited about was the chance to mix humor with blocks of drama and action cut in. I’m pumped to give drawing some action a chance!!
So as the price of gas goes up does that effect our Doubloon to stuff ratio? Stupid inflation…
